He started his secondary education at the gymnasium of his hometown. Left orphaned, he emigrated to Romania (1885); he returned to his homeland several times (1889, 1914, 1937) for a short time. While earning a living by hard work, he completed the Commercial Academy of Bucharest and then enrolled in the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University there, which he did not manage to finish. Asdreni was a prominent activist of the Albanian colony of Romania and its secretary for a long period (1913-1925); during the years 1922-1934 he served, with some interruptions, as secretary of the Albanian Consulate in Bucharest. Asdreni participated in the meeting of Bucharest on November 5, 1912, in which it was decided to declare the independence of Albania. &#8220;<i>Betimi mi flamur&#8221; <\/i>(<i>\u201cOath on the flag\u201d<\/i>) and other poems set to music with patriotic inspiration, played a significant role in strengthening the national consciousness on the eve of and after the declaration of independence and in the period of consolidation of the Albanian state. Always concerned about the fate of the homeland, he dealt with political and social problems in periodicals of the time (&#8220;Albania&#8221;, &#8220;Drita&#8221;, &#8220;Shqip\u00ebria e re&#8221;, etc.) through a series of articles with a democratic orientation and a constructive spirit. Asdreni&#8217;s literary beginnings (1901) are related to Faik Konica&#8217;s magazine &#8220;Albania&#8221;. He published poetic volumes at long intervals: &#8220;Reze djelli&#8221; (<i>\u201cSunshine\u201d<\/i>) (1904), &#8220;Psallme murgu&#8221; (<i>\u201cMonk Psalms\u201d<\/i>) (1931), etc. Considering the state of the Albanian literary system, with the high degree of his talent Asdreni became a bridge between the literature of the National Renaissance and modern literature, occupying a special position in it. A devoted idealist, Asdreni died in complete poverty. Died in Bucharest.
