Piero <\/span>D’Inzeo<\/span>, equestrian cha<\/span>m<\/span>pion, was born in Ro<\/span>m<\/span>e. Piero dedicated hi<\/span>m<\/span>self to horse riding fro<\/span>m<\/span> a very young<\/span> age, under the tutelage of his father Costante, <\/span>m<\/span>arshal of the Italian cavalry and founder of the “Società <\/span>Ippica<\/span> Ro<\/span>m<\/span>ana” in 1934. His origin is fro<\/span>m<\/span> M<\/span>ontecilfone<\/span>, in the province of <\/span>Ca<\/span>m<\/span>pobaso<\/span>, <\/span>M<\/span>olise. The <\/span>D’Inzeos<\/span> are a household na<\/span>m<\/span>e in the Arbëresh co<\/span>m<\/span>m<\/span>unity of the area. During the Italian <\/span>m<\/span>onarchy, Pasquale <\/span>D’Inzeo<\/span>, the cha<\/span>m<\/span>pion’s grandfather, was <\/span>m<\/span>ayor fro<\/span>m<\/span> 1896 to 1902. Following in his father’s footsteps, Piero beca<\/span>m<\/span>e a cavalry <\/span>m<\/span>ajor in the ranks of the Carabinieri. Participant in eight consecutive Oly<\/span>m<\/span>pic Ga<\/span>m<\/span>es, fro<\/span>m<\/span> 1948 in London to 1976 in <\/span>M<\/span>ontreal. He won two silver and four bronze <\/span>m<\/span>edals. <\/span>One of Piero’s favorite co<\/span>m<\/span>petitions was undoubtedly the annual international co<\/span>m<\/span>petition “Piazza di Siena”, which has been held since 1926, in which he turns out to be the rider with the <\/span>m<\/span>ost victories.<\/span> Starting fro<\/span>m<\/span> 2014, the race in “Piazza di Siena” has been na<\/span>m<\/span>ed “<\/span>M<\/span>aster Fratelli <\/span>D’Inzeo<\/span>” in honor of two Arbëresh brothers, legends of world equestrianis<\/span>m<\/span>. They have passed away, but they are <\/span>a great exa<\/span>m<\/span>ple<\/span> for their country of origin and Italy itself. They do<\/span>m<\/span>inated in the first half of the 20th century in the international arena of this <\/span>sport, and<\/span> were victorious in <\/span>al<\/span>m<\/span>ost all<\/span> the cha<\/span>m<\/span>pionships of the ti<\/span>m<\/span>e.
