Writer, publicist and translator Andrea Varfi was born in Qeparo. He received his elementary lessons from the teacher of the first Albanian school in the village, his permanent mentor, his father, Epaminonda Varfi. He graduated from high school in Tirana in 1935. He completed higher studies at the University of Perugia, at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. After completing his academic commitment, in 1941 he returned to his homeland. Varfi contributed to the National Liberation War. In 1945, he was appointed head of the subdivision for cultural and propaganda issues, in the Department of Agriculture. In 1947, he served a two-year sentence on charges of collaboration with the british intelligence agencies. After being declared not guilty, he started working at the “Naim Frash\u00ebri” publishing house and then at the League of Writers. Varfi also wrote poetry and satirical prose, between 1952 and 1960. Varfi adapted De Rada’s main works into today’s language, such as \u201cSerafina Topia\u201d, \u201cRr\u00ebfime t\u00eb Arb\u00ebrit\u201d (\u201cConfessions of Arb\u00ebr\u201d)<\/i>, \u201cK\u00ebng\u00ebt e Milosaos\u201d (“Songs of Milosao”)<\/i> etc. (In the photo: Andrea Varfi)<\/i><\/p>\n
