Born in Boletin, near Mitrovica, Isa Boletini, known as Is\u00eb Boletini, fighter and popular military leader, organizer and leader of the movement for national liberation, Hero of the People. At the age of 17, he participated, as a fighter of the Albanian League of Prizren, in the battle of Slivova against the Ottoman forces. He helped in the establishment of the Albanian League of Peja and in its resistance against the Ottoman rulers and the predatory intentions of Serbia and Montenegro. In 1901\u20131902, he was put in charge of the popular resistance in Kosova, against the interventions of Serbia, Montenegro, and Austria-Hungary. In 1908 he supported the Young Turks\u2019 revolution but opposed the anti-Albanian policy of the Young Turks. He distinguished himself as the leader and organizer of the great popular anti-Ottoman uprisings of 1908-1912. He led several anti-Ottoman uprisings in Drenica-Mitrovica, Shtime-Carralevo, Podujevo-Prishtina, etc. In the days of the declaration of independence, he was put in charge of the representatives of Kosova, and he happened to be at the side of Ismail Qemali in Vlora, on November 28, 1912. In 1913, as a member of the Albanian delegation, together with Ismail Qemali, he went to London, where he strongly opposed the decisions of the Great Powers for the dismemberment of Albania. Later he moved to Kosova again, where he organized the popular resistance against the new Serbo-Montenegrin invaders. By spending his life in struggle and effort and by his wisdom, he gained authority as a popular leader. Isa Boletini was killed in a shootout in Podgorica, after 17 of his fellow fighters were killed.
