The publicist, patriot, Teacher of the People, Sali Nivica, one of the leaders of the Albanian National Movement and director of the “Populli” (\u201cThe people\u201d)<\/i> newspaper, was killed in Shkod\u00ebr. He was born in the Kurvelesh region. He finished the “Zosimea” high school in Ioannina (1909). In 1909-1910 he was a teacher in Durr\u00ebs. He participated in the organization of the anti-Ottoman uprisings in South Albania in 1911-1912. He was imprisoned by the Ottoman authorities. After leaving prison, he taught the Albanian language at the American high school Roberts College <\/i>in Istanbul. He returned to Albania with the Declaration of Independence and in 1914-1915, in the newspaper “Populli”, where he wrote a series of articles with a patriotic, democratic, and anti-feudal spirit. In 1916-1918 he worked in the field of education. In 1919-1920 he directed the newspaper “Populli”<\/i> (\u201cThe people\u201d)<\/i>, in which he defended the independence and territorial integrity of the Albanian state and the issue of national unification. He wrote under different pseudonyms, such as: Godo Duda, Dede Gjoni, Sino Balashi, etc. (In the photo: Sali Nivica)<\/i><\/p>\n
