In the city of Korça, the society “Artet e bukura” (“Fine arts”), an artistic society, was founded. It was a large artistic society, which developed dense activities with a good artistic level. Its core was made up of the members of the musical band “Vatra” (“Hearth”), who came to Albania that same year from the United States of America, as well as a group of talented amateurs who came from the Albanian colonies of Romania. Talented amateurs of former societies gathered around the society; some students from cities who attended art schools abroad also helped. The chairman of this society was the composer Thoma Nashi, who played a special role as creator and conductor. The society developed the widest and most prominent activity in the field of music, but also gave several theater performances and took care of the visual arts. The musical groups, apart from patriotic and popular songs, also performed vocal and instrumental pieces from the works of world-renowned composers. Due to economic difficulties, the society stopped its activity at the end of 1926. The work and good experience of that society was felt in the artistic life of the city, in later periods.
