In the Mirdita Fan area, Hajdar Tafa, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War and People’s Defense Ward, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in the village of Banaj in Berat, in 1920. He joined the partisan ranks, first in the Youth Battalion (1944), then in the X Assault Brigade. After the liberation, he served in the People’s Army, in the People’s Defense Department (1946) and in the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (1949). He took part in many combat actions against armed groups hostile to the regime in power. (In the photo: Statue of Hajdar Tafa, Berat.)
