Shote Galica was born in Radishev in Drenica (Kosovo), a fighter of the Kachak troops, the wife of Azem Galica. Also known as Qerime Radisheva. Shota married the leader of the Kachak gangs, Azem Galica, in 1915. She fought for 12 years side by side with her husband for the liberation of Kosovo from the Serbian invaders. Took part in more than 40 combat actions. In 1919, she participated in the Dukagjin Plain uprising, while in 1922-1923 she fought for the defense of the Junik Neutral Zone, which served as a base for the Kosovo and Malësia insurgents. In July 1924, she participated in the defense of the free zone of Drenica. That same year, after the murder of her husband, Azem Galica, she was put in charge of the detachment and continued fighting against the Serbian forces. Together with hundreds of fighters from Kosovo, in December 1924 she fought against the Serbian and White Guard armies. At the end of the winter of 1926, she left Kosovo for Albania, where she settled in Shullaz town of Kruja. After the Second World War, the Albanian state declared her the People’s Heroine. She passed away at a young age and in deep misery, in 1927. (In the photo: Shote Galica)
