Gaspë Pali, a lyric poet, was born in Shkodër. He attended high school in his hometown and studied literature at the University of Florence (1940). He worked as a teacher and began his literary career in the late 1930s, collaborating with magazines such as “Rilindja” (“Renaissance”) in Korçë and “Cirka” in Shkodër. Gaspë Pali primarily wrote poems, noted for their contemplative tone, light melancholic spirit, and original lyricism. Themes of longing for his homeland, pure and timid love, and dreams of unattainable happiness are central to his poetry, which occasionally conveys a subtle dissatisfaction with the realities of his time. He left behind many poems in manuscript form. The most significant part of his poetic work was compiled in the volume “Hyjt mbi greminë” (“Gods on the Abyss”) (1959). He passed away in 1942.
