George Gordon Byron

George Gordon Byron (George Gordon Byron, 1788 – 1824), English romantic poet, was born. Among his literary works, an important place is occupied by the poem “Old’s” (Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage, 1812 – 1817), written based on impressions from the poet’s travels in Spain, Greece, Albania, Switzerland, Italy, etc. The poem is permeated by the pathos of the struggle for freedom of oppressed and enslaved peoples. In it, George Byron sang to the manly traditions and customs of the Albanians, their bravery and ardent love for freedom. In 1955, the work was translated into Albanian by Skënder Petro Luarasi.
